Is there any entrance test for MBBS admission in Russia ?
No. The students are given direct admission based on their eligibility.
What is the eligibility for getting MBBS admission in Russia ?
As per Medical Council of India the minimum qualification for Indian Students to study in these countries is 50% in Physics, Chemistry and Biology in 12th standard. In case of SC/ST it is 40%. The minimum age should be 17 years by 31st December of the year in which the student is taking admission.
Is qualifying NEET compulsory to take admission abroad ?
Yes, to get the Eligibility Certificate for appearing in NEXT (National Exit Test) after completion of MBBS course from abroad & subsequently getting registration to practice in India, the student must qualify NEET in the year he/she wishes to take admission abroad irrespective of country he/she is opting. And for students who wish to practice in the same destination country from where they complete MBBS course abroad can take admission without NEET eligibility as they can not practice in India after completion of medical course.t.
Is there any minimum age limit for MBBS admission in Russia ?
Yes. The student must be of 17 years till 31st December of the year of admission.
Is the medium of instruction English or Russian ?
The medium of instruction is English but the students are also taught Russian language as a subject for their own benefit as in later years of course students have to interact with Russian patients.
What is the total duration of MBBS in Russia ?
The duration of MBBS in Russia is 5 years 8 months which is often called as 6 years.
When does the session start ?
The session officially starts from 1st week of September in all universities but for 1st year students some universities allow arrival till mid November.
Are we required to appear for interview to get Russian visa ?
No. The visa application & its stamping in student’s passport is facilitated by PEC and does not require the presence of student.
How do we pay the 1st year fee in university ?
Students must carry full 1st year fee along with themselves to Russia (In US Dollars) which must be paid after arrival.
What is the approx. monthly expense in Russia ?
Average amount spent by students is USD 100 which includes their food, travel & miscellaneous expenses monthly. But this entirely depends on the lifestyle of student.
How can our parents send us money in Russia ?
All students must carry an international debit card with themselves for withdrawal of money in Roubles from any ATM in Russia. Additionally, they can carry full year expenses along with themselves in cash or in Forex card.
What does the contract signing in university mean ?
It means that you will have the same fees as decided by university in contract and will remain unchanged for next 6 years during your stay for MBBS in Russia regardless of increments in university fees for further sessions.
Can the fee be refunded after admission in Russia ?
No. Once the fee is paid after arrival it can not be refunded as that seat goes wasted and can not be allotted to any one else for next 6 years.
Whom should we contact in case of any problem in Russia ?
Students can contact PEC office in Russia for any problem. Additionally students can contact the foreign department in university too.
Whom to contact if we fall ill ?
All foreign medical students have medical insurance through which they can get free treatment anytime. Additionally, they can contact PEC office too.
Can we do any part time job during MBBS in Russia ?
No. Students are not allowed to work in Russia as they are given student visa from embassy & not work visa.
When can we return to India during MBBS course ?
Each year there are summer vacations for 2 months i.e. From July – August % winter vacations for 15 days during the month of January. Most students come back to India each year during summer vacations.
Can we practice in India after completion of MBBS in Russia ?
Yes. All students must clear the MCI Screening Test in India after arrival. Post which they can practice in any government or private body, just as any student who does MBBS from India.
What if I do not clear the MCI Screening Test ?
The MCI Screening test is conducted every 6 months i.e. twice each year. 50% marks (Only MCQ’s asked) are required to clear it. Additionally, there is no limit in the number of attempts for a student to appear in it.
